Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin confirms “if I got the chance, I’d go to Juventus”, and would accept competing with Wojciech Szczesny.
The Italian international has been heavily linked with the Bianconeri, and it was reported this morning that the two clubs will meet this week to discuss a deal.
“Knowing that I’m one of their targets is really gratifying, incredibly gratifying,” Perin told Corriere di Torino.

“Being liked by Juventus is not something that happens to everyone, so it’s already a source of pride for me, I’m really pleased.
“Is a deal done? Not that I know of, but it’s clear that if I got the chance, I’d go to Juventus. Let’s see, with Genoa we’ll listen to all the opportunities.
“I repeat though, being a target for Juventus can’t be anything other than a source of great pride for any player. It’s a choice I’ll make in the coming days.
“The Champions League? If I leave Genoa, my home, it will be to pursue this kind of dream. I’d like to do it with a team that allows me to scale these kind of heights. I want to see if I can do it, I think I can have my say.
“I know that at Juventus, like at any other great club, I’d find another great goalkeeper [Szczesny] and we’d have to compete for the place. I’m ready for that, have I mentioned that I’m competitive?
“I’ll sweat every day, I’ll always try to do my best and improve and give the Coach a headache in his choices. It will be an important year to grow.”
If Perin did go to Turin he’d be replacing Gianluigi Buffon, something he hopes to do for Italy too.
“When Gigi stops there are a group of us goalkeepers who aspire to the Azzurri shirt, it’s my objective too and I hope I deserve to reach it.
“I’ve already spoken to him, any other sentence on Gigi would be reductive. He’s been a reference point for every goalkeeper in the world, I think he’s the best in history.”
