The Argentine’s recent good form has seen him linked with the likes of Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea, and Sergio Furlan was asked about the speculation.

“The interest from top clubs is obviously pleasing, but right now ‘Maxi’ is only thinking about Watford,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.

“He wants to keep doing well for his team, but at the same time it’s normal that every player wants to improve his professional condition.

“He missed Italy a fair bit at first. He arrived in Udine when he was 20. The Pozzo family watched him grow, so there’s esteem between both parties.

“He grew up in Serie A and won things at Juventus, so it’s obvious that he’s remained tied to Italy.”
