Javier Pastore still likes Serie A, but won’t leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer – “I’m like God in Paris”.

The winger moved to Ligue 1 from Palermo in 2011 for a fee of around €40m, though he had options in Italy.

Milan, Inter and also Roma wanted me, but my price was very high and [Palermo President Maurizio] Zamparini preferred to sell me abroad because the offers were better,” Pastore revealed in an interview with Corriere dello Sport.

“When PSG came in I didn’t have doubts.

Juventus? They were interested during my second year at PSG, I wasn’t always playing and the Juventus hierarchy asked about me.

“It’s always nice when big clubs want you. In the future you never know, it might be that we get to December and PSG don’t want me anymore.

“Who knows, but even though I like Italy in Paris I’m like God.

“I watch all the [Serie A] matches I can, in Italy and in your League I spent wonderful years and I have memories which are impossible to forget. I met my wife Chiara there, and I lived in a beautiful place which I returned to a fortnight ago.”

Pastore also had words of praise for Paul Pogba, but even though the Juventus midfielder is linked with a world record transfer, the Argentinian international thinks the best midfielder on the planet is at Parc Des Princes.

“You have to pay for champions, it’s inevitable. Pogba is strong, you just have to look at him on the pitch to understand it.

“Marco Verratti? For me he’s the strongest midfielder in the world, even though he’s injured. He plays like he’s 35 and has played for Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“He does things that other can’t do and he’ll only improve more over the years.”
