“It was a great honour and a privilege to be received by the Pope, a person whose humanity is without equal,” said President Tommaso Ghirardi.

“I was above all struck by how humble and simple he was, as he even apologised for being a few minutes late.

“That was the best way for us to close an extraordinary year, the one marking our Centenary. We will never forget this day.

“Now the transfer market is over, we can concentrate on the game. We remain with our feet on the ground, but are more fired up than ever to face a great side like Roma.”
