Roma had seemed to be very close to an agreement, but Parma jumped in and promised regular Serie A playing time to continue his development.
Already with one senior Argentina international cap under his belt, the youngster was sold to Atletico Madrid for €2.5m in 2018, although he remained on loan at Argentinos Juniors until January 2019.
He spent last season on loan at Famalicao in Portugal.
