The midfielder will celebrate his 33rd birthday later this month, but he’s still hungry to compete for Doria in Serie A.

“I have a long contract in place here,” said the international whose deal is set to expire in June 2017.

“I still haven’t thought about what I will do once I do hang up my boots. When I do start to think about that then I will know that the moment has arrived for me to quit.

“For me, it would be great if I could end my career with this club because I have played so many games for Doria and that is not easy in today’s football.”

Palombo, who spent six months on loan at Inter in 2012, joined Sampdoria from Fiorentina in 2002. He’s played over 400 matches for the Marassi outfit.
