Roma President James Pallotta says he will “only do what’s best” for the club after entering negotiations with The Friedkin Group.

Tycoon Dan Friedkin has been interested in Roma for quite a while and reports from Il Tempo and Leggo claimed Pallotta decided in favour of entering negotiations to sell the club for €510m.

After Roma confirmed they were in investment talks, the American assures he is “at ease” with the decision and that he has the Giallorossi’s best interests at heart.

“I only do what’s best for Roma, I don’t care what it is,” he told La Repubblica. “I don’t need any gratitude or praise, I’m at ease.

Pallotta has struggled with the bureaucracy in Italy over the planning of a new stadium, and his investors decided against a €130m capital increase.

That is thought to be the main reason behind his decision to sell the club he “loves”.

“I have worked hard for Roma and I love the club. I just have to be satisfied that I did my best.”
