Serie B side Padova have distanced themselves from transfer links with Stephan El Shaarawy of Milan.

The youngster spent last term on loan with the outfit while he was on Genoa’s books before moving to San Siro in the summer.

Given his lack of playing time at the Stadio Meazza, some have paired the 19-year-old with a switch back to the minnows.

“You can forget the suggestion that El Shaarawy could return here,” sporting director Rino Foschi stated. “He’s now part of another world.

“In January we will look at what we can do to make some adjustments to the squad as it is now,” added the former Palermo, Genoa and Torino official.

“I think we need to do something on the right-hand side of the team, but we could intervene in other areas.

“An attacking midfielder, for example, may arrive. But it won’t be El Shaarawy…”

Padova are currently joint fourth in Serie B with Reggina and Verona, seven points adrift of leaders Torino.
