“I don’t see Fabio Quagliarella’s future without the Sampdoria jersey on his back. He has been very important for us over these years, did great things with Samp and I hope he can keep going with us,” the director told Sky Sport Italia.

Keita Balde Diao is on loan from Monaco and has impressed so far, but is there an option to buy?

“He is on loan, we haven’t discussed it yet, because we need to know what our future is. It’s true we are happy with our current position in the table, but there have also been remarkable surprises and turnarounds lately, so we must take nothing for granted.”

Adrien Silva is one of several veterans who have joined Sampdoria with the promise of more regular playing time and Osti confirms this is a business strategy.”

“In recent years, Sampdoria have always targeted young players who we can sell on for a profit. In the current scenario, it’s not so easy to make profit, so we must try to get revenue in different ways and above all have a team that can maintain its Serie A status.

“We can do that by bringing in players who are no longer than young, but have the experience and quality to help our younger elements to mature.”
