Sampdoria striker Maxi Lopez is delighted with the start the club have made to the season, and with his own prolific form.

The 28-year-old Argentine has scored three goals in his first two starts for the Blucerchiati, just one less than he netted in the entirety of last term with Catania and Milan.

“Step-by-step we can reach our goals,” Lopez – who bagged a double in Samp's 3-2 win at Pescara yesterday – told Sky Sports.

“But we have to continue to focus. The team wants to do well. I personally feel good. I want to thank everyone for the welcome I have received – the team, the staff, the board and the fans. I hope to continue on this path.

“I want to score as many goals as I possibly can, and I want Sampdoria to reach its targets.”

Ciro Ferrara's side are 4th and have a 100 per cent record so far, but trail Juventus, Napoli and Lazio because of the one point penalty imposed upon them in relation to the Calcioscommesse scandal.
