Sampdoria have announced that striker Fabio Quagliarella has extended his contract with the club until 2020.

Quagliarella had been linked with January moves to Roma and Milan, but Samp confirmed on Christmas Day that the 36-year-old had committed himself to the Blucerchiati for the next 18 months.

"The President Massimo Ferrero, Sampdoria and Fabio Quagliarella toast to the captain’s contract extension until June 30, 2020,” read a statement on the the club’s official website.

Quagliarella has already scored 10 Serie A goals this season, fuelling reports that he could be in line for an Italy recall.
