Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has officially joined Napoli on loan until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old arrived in Naples yesterday and the Partenopei have registered his contract on the Lega Calcio system as a ‘temporary’ transfer.

Napoli pay 600,000 for the player’s loan until the end of the season plus €200,000 depending on the defender’s appearances this season and a further €400,000 if Luciano Spalletti’s men finish in the top four this season.

The Partenopei do not have an option to make the player’s move permanent at the end of the season.

Tuanzebe spent the first part of the season on loan at Aston Villa, playing 11 games across all competitions.

He moves to Naples to replace Kostas Manolas, who returned to Greece, signing with Olympiacos in December. The Serie A giants will soon confirm the defender’s loan move with an official statement.

Napoli sit third in the Serie A table and picked up a 1-1 draw against Juventus yesterday.

They return to the pitch on Sunday, hosting Sampdoria at the Stadio Maradona.
