Genoa have officially signed former Italy goalkeeper Federico Marchetti from Lazio.

Lega Serie A’s official website initially reported Marchetti had joined Cagliari, but Tuttomercatoweb assures it was a mistake on the organisation’s part.

Indeed, Transfermarkt notes the shot-stopper has penned a two-year contract with the Grifone, replacing Mattia Perin, who joined Juventus last month.

The 35-year-old made 194 appearances for Lazio but lost his place to Thomas Strakosha and filled in for Gianluigi Buffon at the 2010 World Cup.
