The right-back arrived today for his medical and the two clubs simultaneously announced his move.

“AS Roma can confirm that the club has completed the signing of Bruno Peres from Torino FC,” read a Giallorossi statement.

“The agreement with Torino for the defender is for an initial €1 million loan, with an obligation to make the transfer permanent – depending on the completion of certain performance targets – for a fee of €12.5m.

“The transfer deal includes clauses for an additional bonus payment, up to a maximum of €1.5m, if the club and the player reach certain sporting objectives.”

Bruno Peres essentially replaces Douglas Maicon at Roma and will be on their Champions League squad for the preliminary round against Porto.

As the first leg is tomorrow night, he won’t be in time to actually play.

“I'm absolutely delighted to start this new challenge,” Peres told asroma.com.

“I can't wait to meet my new team-mates and show the coach what I can do. In the meantime, I'll cheer the guys on from my living room tomorrow night. Forza Roma!”

Peres notched up 65 Serie A appearances for Torino, scoring six goals including a famous coast-to-coast run in the derby with Juventus.
