Milan have officially signed Brahim Diaz on a two-year loan from Real Madrid, reportedly with an option to buy and a counter-option, but there is no mention of that deal in the statements.

The statements from the two clubs only note that this is a temporary two-season loan deal until June 30, 2023.

Although the two announcements do not include mention of an option, it’s widely reported that Milan can purchase Brahim Diaz outright for circa €22m.

Real Madrid should also have a counter-option to buy him back for €27m.

It is also suggested Milan are spending €3m for the two-year loan.

The 22-year-old was at the club’s Casa Milan headquarters yesterday to sign the contract, but it was not formally announced until this evening.

He had already spent the 2020-21 season on loan at San Siro, scoring seven goals in 39 competitive appearances.

The Spain international will wear the Number 10 jersey, inherited from Hakan Calhanoglu, who left as a free agent for their city rivals Inter.

“AC Milan is delighted to announce the signing of Brahim Abdelkader Díaz from Real Madrid CF on a temporary basis for two years. The contract ties the football player to the Rossoneri Club until 30 June 2023.

“Brahim, after scoring 7 goals in 39 appearances with AC Milan last season, will continue to be a Rossoneri player, wearing the number 10 jersey.”
