Massimo Oddo insists Udinese’s recent slump in form is nothing to be concerned about after a 2-0 defeat at Atalanta.

The injury-crippled Bianconeri have now lost their last six Serie A matches, a sequence of results that has turned them from European hopefuls into mid-table strugglers.

However, Oddo believes there are mitigating circumstances behind his team’s poor run of form.

“Today we had a very young midfield, who played a good match,” the former Pescara Coach said.

“But on the bench there weren’t the players to replace them. It’s hard to change the game in that way.

“In at least three or four of the recent matches, we haven’t deserved to lose.

“The reality is that we have 33 points on the board. I arrived here when the team was only slightly above the relegation zone. Now we are nine points clear.

“We just need to work hard and straighten out our path.

“Nothing dramatic has happened. We got to within two points of Europa League qualification, giving us a little dream.

“Barak will definitely come back from suspension against Fiorentina, but it will be difficult to get anyone else back.”
