Udinese Coach Massimo Oddo insists he is not thinking of Europa League qualification despite sitting in eighth place.

The Bianconeri’s win over Genoa this afternoon
moved them to within a point of seventh place, a position which may be enough to secure European football next season.

However, speaking post-match, the former Pescara boss insists Serie A survival remains his only ambition for the time being.

The Bianconeri’s win over Genoa this afternoon
moved them to within a point of seventh place, a position which may be enough to secure European football next season.

However, speaking post-match, the former Pescara boss insists Serie A survival remains his only ambition for the time being.

“We are thinking about getting to 40 points, that is the first target,” Oddo claimed.

“Once we get that, we’ll think about something else.

“If one of the two or three teams above us fail in the second half of the season, we will need to do well to be in the mix for it.

“For now, though, it is not our target.”

Despite victory, Oddo was less than impressed with much of his side’s showing at Marassi against the Griffone.

“We played a terrible first half where Genoawere much better than us.

“In the second half, something sparked within the team and we did better.

“It wasn’t a good match, very tactical with few shots on goal.

“In the end there was great desire to bring home the three points. Genoacould have easily drawn.”
