Roma‘s Steven Nzonzi is on the market, but the French midfielder reportedly wants severance pay to leave the Stadio Olimpico.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport and Il Romanista, the 32-year-old has rejected every offer he has received so far and is unwilling to leave Roma unless the club pay him €1.5m to rescind his contract.

Nzonzi joined the Giallorossi in a €26m deal from Sevilla in 2018 but failed to impress in the capital playing just 39 games across all competitions.

He joined Galatasaray on loan in 2020 and Rennes in 2021 and he’s been training apart from the group since the beginning of the pre-season under José Mourinho this summer.

His contract with the Giallorossi expires at the end of the season.

  1. I remember some Juve fans wanting this guy! I could never understand why – he was never any good. Another of the ‘we got lucky not signing him’ guys…. Sadly we (Paratici) made far worse recruitment mistakes….!
