The latest Italian Government figures on the Coronavirus outbreak show another leap forward, with 233 dead and 5,061 testing positive.

The highly-contagious respiratory disease has taken hold in Italy, with considerably more cases than any other European country.

Today’s figures released in a press conference confirm now 5,061 have tested positive for the illness, an increase of 1,145 compared to only yesterday.

That includes 233 fatalities, an additional 36 compared to just 24 hours ago.

That includes 233 fatalities, an additional 36 compared to just 24 hours ago.

There are 2,651 patients currently in hospital with symptoms, 567 of them in intensive care.

A further 1,843 people are in auto-isolation at home in order to prevent the spread of the disease.

Although the Government decree ordered all sporting events be played behind closed doors, the latest reports from Milan, Rome and other large cities show many of the suggestions are being completely ignored.

There were large crowds in the usual areas, not even trying to keep the one metre gap between people.
