Dusan Vlahovic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic are only two of the 11 Serie A players included in Serbia’s squad for Qatar 2022.

More than one-third of Serbia’s players at the World Cup play in Serie A.

Vlahovic and Milinkovic-Savic are arguably the biggest stars in the team, but Serbia’s World Cup squad list includes Vanja, the Torino goalkeeper brother of the Lazio midfielder and his teammate Sasa Lukic.

Fiorentina‘s Nikola Milenkovic is also part of the squad and so are Verona‘s Darko Lazovic and Ivan Ilic and Juventus‘ Filip Kostic.

Up front, there are Filip Djuricic (Sampdoria), Luka Jovic (Fiorentina), Nemanja Radonjic (Torino) and Juventus’ Vlahovic.

The Juventus striker is dealing with a groin injury and missed the last four games across all competitions.

Serbia won their World Cup qualification group, forcing Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal to earn their spot in the playoffs.

Serbia will make their World Cup debut on November 24 against Brazil and will then face Cameroon and Switzerland.

  1. More than one-third, almost half this team is from Serie A. IMO they are the dark horse of this world cup
