Antonio Nocerino has been surprised by his lack of playing time at Milan this season, his agent has admitted.

“Nocerino is not happy with how the campaign has gone and it would be useless to pretend otherwise,” Marco Sommella told Radio CRC on Friday.

“He was a protagonist last season, scoring a number of goals, and he didn’t expect to be placed to one side.”

The Italian international joined the Diavolo in the summer of 2011 from Palermo for just €500,000. He scored 10 goals in 35 League games.

However, the former Juventus player has appeared in just 21 Serie A matches this term – and only 15 of them from the start.

The 28-year-old’s lack of action has raised doubts about his future and re-ignited rumours that home-town club Napoli could look to sign him.

“If there has been a meeting between Milan and Napoli then I don’t know about it,” the agent added. “It’s premature to talk about the transfer market now.

“Walter Mazzarri is a fan of Nocerino, but it’s not the Coach who has to call up a player. It is down to clubs and agents to take a negotiation forward.

“If Napoli want him then they’ll have to contact the Milan owners in a bid to set up talks.”
