The news rocked the sports media this morning that a new player had joined the fray to buy the Rossoneri, entering the race against Robin Li's Chinese Group.

Statements made by Malaysian Crown Prince Tunku Ibrahim seemed to reveal quite explicitly a plan to buy the Italian club.

New statements from the same interview, however, are now being reported by MilanNews.it, and they paint a wholly different picture.

“I was asked whether I'd be interested in buying a foreign club, and I admitted that my dream was Milan,” said the Prince, in an interview with Singapore outlet The Straits Times. “But that's not to say that I really want to buy them.

“It's just a team I've loved since I was little, so I'm not buying Milan. I don't have the money for that, I'm not rich like the other Malaysian businessmen. I'm just a young man with great ambitions.

“My Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club can't even compete against the big teams in my country, never mind taking the reins of Milan and challenging Juventus and the other big teams in Serie A.

“My only club is JDT, a small team with great objectives.”
