Genoa coach Davide Nicola says their win against Milan showed he “has a team of real men” and tends to agree with Jurgen Klopp over the issue of the Coronavirus.

Nicola’s side pulled off a shock 2-1 away win against the Rossoneri in an empty San Siro, and Nicola says it was a difficult match.

“It’s a beautiful victory, I would say. It wasn’t a simple game, congratulations to the lads,” Nicola told DAZN following the game.

“At the end of the game we went to the away section of the stadium to show our fans that the distance wasn’t in our head.

“Being pinned back too much in the second half was not a choice, as we were forced into it by Milan.

“Our two wingers were too defensive and we lost a bit in terms of centre of gravity, but our idea was to stay high and attack.”

Nicola was then asked on Davide Biraschi’s performance, in which the winger nullified Ante Rebic and Theo Hernandez.

“For Milan the left-hand side is an important side of the pitch, but also with Cristian Romero we wanted to have more structure to limit Zlatan Ibrahimovic. I liked the game as we interpreted it.

“I have a team of real men and I like this.”

Nicola was then asked on the Coronavirus crisis, and replied that coaches should follow Liverpool boss Klopp's example, and keep questions about the virus for medical experts.

“Personally, I really enjoyed Jurgen Klopp’s interview, we do not have the competence to know what is right or wrong. A coach does not have the ability to decide things that aren’t up to him, it is up to us to be able to adapt to any situation.”
