The Frenchman has been out of action since injuring his ankle in a car crash in February, but is targeting a return against Juventus on May 21.

“I’ve had this injury that’s kept me out for three months,” Niang said in an interview with Milan Channel.

“I’ve tried to work hard to be back to my best for the Coppa Italia final. I’m working with that objective.

“I’m working with the coaches, this week I started working with the ball and that makes me feel good with my teammates.

“I still have 10 days to return to top condition.”

There are two games left in the Rossoneri’s season, with Serie A concluding this weekend and Cristian Brocchi’s side taking on Roma.

If the Diavolo don’t overhaul Sassuolo in sixth-place, they will have to beat Juventus to make it into the Europa League.

“The win against Bologna was very important for morale. We have our destiny in our hands, but you never know in football.

“We have to work calmly, we can do a good job. If we’re all focused on our goal I’m sure we can get some satisfaction.

“Roma? It’s an important game, because we want to get sixth and finish the season well in front of our fans.

“We’ve caused problems for big teams like Inter and Juventus this season, so we’ll face Roma with that mindset.

“Then there’s the match against Juventus which can take us back into Europe. It’s been 13 years since Milan were in the Coppa Final.

“We’ll do everything to bring the cup home to Milan.”
