Cesena boss Massimo Ficcadenti has admitted that he would have preferred to face Inter before Christmas ahead of Wednesday's re-arranged clash.

The Serie A encounter was originally scheduled for December 12, but had to be postponed because of Inter's Club World Cup commitments.

Back then Inter were struggling under Rafael Benitez, now the Nerazzurri have won all four games since Leonardo took over.

"Of course it would have been better to play them in December," Ficcadenti noted. "They were a different side back then, they had four or five fundamental players missing.

"Now they have almost all of them back.

"It's difficult to find weaknesses in a squad which is so strong physically, technically and now psychologically too.

"They are extraordinary in attack and then you have to consider that they have a player like full-back Maicon who also needs marking…"

Although aware of the test which awaits them, the former Reggina Coach insists his side won't be playing for a draw.

"We can't just defend," he added. "If we did then the game would be lost from the start. We have to run more than they do and be more concentrated."

Ficcadenti admitted that he will make three or four changes to the team which narrowly lost to Roma at the weekend.

These are tough times for Cesena when you consider that they will follow up games against Roma and Inter with Milan at the weekend.
