With that deal due to expire in June, the club have been seen as looking to sell the player to one of numerous bidders, with favourites including Juventus, Roma and Liverpool.

La Nazione lead suggestions that owner Della Valle will be in Florence today to talk over the player’s fate in the short term.

On the table is reportedly indeed the option to sell in January, or for the club’s directors to request that Coach Vincenzo Montella bench the 25-year-old in favour of Ciprian Tatarusanu for the remaining six months of his career in Florence.

Tuttosport say that Montella will be present at today’s meeting and that if he were to be requested to drop Neto, the club would release an official statement relieving the Coach of all responsibility.

In the meantime, La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the Viola club are considering Udinese's third goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic among their options to replace the Brazilian.
