Juventus and Milan are out of the top five for net transfer spending over the last decade, while Inter are just behind Chelsea.

The CIES Football Observatory has ranked the clubs of the big five leagues according to their net spending on transfer operations concluded over the last ten seasons.

Manchester clubs are on top of the ranking, which features only three Serie A clubs: Inter, Milan and Juventus.

The Old Lady and the Rossoneri are in the top ten, but out of the top five as PSG, Barcelona and Arsenal follow Manchester United and City.

Inter rank 11th, just behind Chelsea, but it’s worth noticing that the Blues were imposed a one-window transfer ban in 2019.

The initial embargo was of two transfer windows, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport lifted the ban in December 2019. Chelsea had not made new signings in the summer of that same year but could welcome new players to Stamford Bridge from January 2020.

  1. Shows how much oil and TV money is in the epl, though it also shows how much they waste.

Disasters like Man Utd and Arsenal are 2nd and 4th, while nothing epl clubs litter the list too.

  2. Bayern. Perhaps the best run club on the planet overall. They spend just enough and are perennial German champions and CL quaterfinalists. All the big clubs should study this club. And for smaller mid-table clubs looking to challenge for CL places Atalanta is the model.

  3. Wtf is Milan doing there without any trophies in the last 10 years? I think it was partly due the times when they felt “we are so rich”. Lol
