Former Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has hinted that he wants to get into coaching and revealed why he left the Rossoneri.

The centre-back moved from San Siro to MLS outfit Montreal Impact in 2012, and has since stayed in North America to live.

And the 38-year-old has admitted the reasons behind his transfer to Canada, and where he sees his future in the game.

“A few years ago I thought I’d finish my career at Milan,” he told FourFourTwo. “But as time went by, the prospect of moving to North America and try a different type of football interested me.

“It was Marco Di Vaio who convinced me to come to Montreal. I spoke with him and then followed their matches.

“When I thought about it, I had no doubts about relocating and moving my family over here.

“I was interested to see the type of football that was being played, so I spoke with [New York Red Bulls striker Thierry] Henry and he was enthusiastic about the MLS.

“I knew that it was going to be a very physical League – if you’re not in shape here, you’re in trouble. And I’m sure in the future it can be a major championship.

“The future? I’d like to coach Real Madrid one day [laughs]. I want to stay in Canada for a while yet, and I’ll finish my badges next year.

“Where will I coach? I don’t know yet. Let’s see.”
