Alessandro Nesta calls on Milan to stick with Sinisa Mihajlovic and says ‘they need to change mentality.’

The Rossoneri spent heavily over the summer but have struggled to keep up with the Serie A pace-setters and went into the winter break in sixth place.

Former defender Nesta, now head Coach of Miami FC, believes a change in direction is needed but that the Coach isn’t always at fault.

“The club’s problem isn’t the Coach,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The fault always seems to be with the Coach, but they continue to change and the situation is the same.

“Mihajlovic is the right person for this Milan, he’s tough and he knows how to do his work. I hope they don’t sack him.

“Milan can recover and fight for the Champions League, the team isn’t bad. They can aim for these positions.

“They need to change mentality. If you have less money than in the past, you have to be careful and not mess up a signing.

“You must do accurate scouting and look to find players before the others.

“What could Seedorf and Inzaghi do? Milan maybe comes by only once, and the opportunity should be taken while it’s going.

“More Coaches among my former teammates? I would’ve bet on Costacurta, but he got sick of it too early. Gattuso? It’s his time, he’s always at ease under pressure. That is his strength.

“I hope that Paolo Maldini goes back to the club, but for me it’s a bit too soon.

“I’ve started from far away, to have the Milan bench there’s a long queue and I want to be a bit more relaxed.”
