Alessandro Nesta was back at Lazio’s Formello training ground for the first time in 19 years, as the coach is studying Maurizio Sarri’s methods.

The former defender and lifelong Lazio supporter was invited to the camp so he could shadow new boss Sarri during a day of pre-season work.

Nesta is currently looking for a new role after he was fired by Frosinone in March, having previously been on the benches of Miami FC and Perugia.

Now 45, Nesta got his pen and paper out and became a student again when watching Sarri’s session alongside director Igli Tare.

It was also a blast from the past, as his last official visit to the Formello training ground was August 31, 2002, when he made the transfer to Milan.

He played 261 competitive matches for Lazio, scoring three goals, winning the Scudetto, two editions of the Coppa Italia, the UEFA Cup and the European Super Cup.
