Pavel Nedved insists Juventus coach Max Allegri ‘was never in doubt’, but warns fans must wait before seeing Angel Di Maria, Dusan Vlahovic and Arkadiusz Milik playing together.

Their Champions League match with Maccabi Haifa kicks off at the Allianz Juventus Stadium at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

Champions League Liveblog: Chelsea-Milan, Juventus-Maccabi Haifa

The Bianconeri are in dire need of a boost, having lost both their Champions League fixtures to PSG and Benfica, leaving them rock bottom with Maccabi Haifa on zero points.

“I don’t know why it is difficult for us in the Champions League. We are doing everything, the club, coach, staff and players, doing everything to get us back on track, to play Juve-style games that can get us through to the next round and recover in Serie A. That is our objective,” Nedved told Sky Sport Italia.

Max Allegri got them back on track in Serie A at the weekend by beating Bologna 3-0, but Arkadiusz Milik and Leonardo Bonucci are only fit for the bench this evening.

“The coach has never been even slightly in doubt, I want to make that clear. There was more confidence after the win, but we have also had very few training sessions, very few, so we will discover the form of the team as we go forward.

“I am happy that the players returned from international duty with the right attitude, so we’ll see if that is enough.”

There is also still a distinct lack of enthusiasm, as is evident by the fact there are reportedly only 30,000 in attendance in Turin and 3,000 of them are Maccabi Haifa fans.

Fabio Capello in the Sky Sport studio asked when Juve will try using the trio of Angel Di Maria, Dusan Vlahovic and Arkadiusz Milik together.

“It’s a wonderful trio, in the past we had David Trezeguet, Alessandro Del Piero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. We could get them to co-exist, I don’t think it will be easy, but I am glad that the coach managed to get Milik and Vlahovic playing together.

“The good thing about Milik is that he likes to track back and help, Vlahovic always goes forward. We hope to have Milik back very soon.”

Juventus fans and critics have been particularly angry this season at the midfield, seeing it as weak and too disconnected from the attack, leaving strikers often isolated.

However, when asked if they are waiting for the return of Federico Chiesa and Paul Pogba, Nedved tried to shift the focus.

“I was watching the Champions League last night, I saw Napoli and have to compliment them on their fantastic game against Ajax.

“We have some ideas in our minds. It’s true that we have players who like attacking, such as Pogba and Chiesa, so the ideas are there. It is unfair to talk about them right now, because I think the team that steps onto the field today is strong and has to get points against Maccabi, so I trust in them.”
