Napoli have decided to move forward with goalkeeper Alex Meret and talks are ongoing regarding a contract renewal.

The 25-year-old Italian shot stopper’s current deal expires with the club at the end of next season and his future has been shrouded in doubt for a while now, but finally Napoli have made up their mind and decided to keep Meret as their starting goalkeeper. This suggests that the Partenopei will not renew David Ospina’s contract.

As reported by Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Napoli and Meret’s entourage are deep in contract renewal talks, with the club hoping to extend his deal to June 2027. Things are progressing well and both parties are now confident that a deal can be closed out very soon.

Meret joined Napoli in the summer of 2019 from Udinese in a deal worth around €25m. He has made 93 appearances for the club over the last three seasons, conceding 114 goals and keeping 27 clean sheets.
