“Insigne? He hasn’t surprised me. He’s a product of Napoli and Naples, a complicated city where it’s more difficult than elsewhere to be a prophet in your homeland,” continued the President to Corriere dello Sport.

“Another, in his place, could’ve said, ‘why am I bothering?’ Instead he showed himself to be a man with logic. For me, he’s like family.

“As for Piotr [Zielinski], we haven’t seen the real Zielinski yet. His story has yet to be written and that’s possibly created some insecurity in him, although he’ll be able to overcome it.

“September 2004 was the magic moment of this era: rescuing Naples from bankruptcy, taking them to where they are now, with international admiration and a future that awaits us.

“How do I imagine it? By us winning in Italy and Europe.”
