Napoli’s search for a right-back has reportedly taken them to Tottenham Hotspur’s Serge Aurier.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a deal for Manchester United’s Italy international Matteo Darmian is proving difficult, prompting Napoli’s change of tact.

Aurier only joined Tottenham last summer in a €23m deal from Paris Saint-Germain, but the Ivorian struggled to impose himself in North London.

Furthermore, his lack of an EU passport would prevent the Partenopei from also signing Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

Having failed to bring in the likes of Youssouf Sabaly, Santiago Arias and Stefan Lainer so far, Elseid Hysaj remains Carlo Ancelotti’s only recognised right-back.
