Napoli will receive close to €40m after qualifying for the Champions League group stage, and their success also affects Juventus and Roma.

The Partenopei beat Nice 2-0 last night to seal a 4-0 aggregate victory, so Serie A will have three clubs in the group stage for the first time since 2013-14.

The website Calcio e Finanza has broken down the financial impact for each club, with the Neapolitans set to receive €39.3m by qualifying.

The market pool for Italy is worth around €110m, which is broken down into two halves of €55m.

Having finished third in Serie A last season, Napoli are entitled to 15 per cent of the first half, worth about €8.25m.

Juventus, as champions, receive 50 per cent while Roma are allocated 35 per cent for finishing second, earning the clubs €27.5m and €19.25m respectively.

The second 50 per cent is split equally between all clubs in the group stage, meaning all three clubs receive around €18.3m.

That actually means that Napoli’s qualification has had a negative financial impact, at least initially, on Juve and Roma as had Nice won they’d split the pot 50-50.

Each club also receives a €12.7m participation bonus, with Napoli getting a further €2m bonus after negotiating the play-off.

The Partenopei therefore receive a total of €39.3m, with €50.3m for Roma and €58.5m for Juventus.

This does not take into account results in the competition, with a win in the group stage worth around €1.5m.

Last year Juventus’ run to the final earned them just over €109m, with Napoli receiving about €65m for their Last 16 elimination.
