Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam has admitted that his club are tired of finishing second in Serie A. “We’re not happy about it.”

Napoli came runners-up to Juventus in three of the last four seasons, and Ghoulam is desperate for them to shed their reputation of ‘nearly men’.

“We’ve been criticised a lot, but we’re on our way more united than ever,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“Everyone wants to beat Napoli and we must be proud to represent this city. The fans must have only a little patience.

“I want to get back to being the Ghoulam of before. I have to play and draw confidence from that. Now I’m finally finding more continuity in training.

“It’s a great League to play in, with so many teams who are fighting to win. So many champions have returned to Serie A.

“We want to win something, in the last few years we’ve always come second and we’re not happy about it. We also want to do well in the Champions League.”

Next up for the Partenopei after the international break is a home match against Verona.

“We have to win after the last two draws. We must remain calm, counting on the help of our fans.”
