Serie A side Napoli are ready to tighten their grip on Marek Hamsik by offering him a new improved contract.

The Slovakian is currently tied to the Azzurri until June 2015, but it is being reported that the outfit want to extend his stay until 2016.

Hamsik was at the centre of transfer speculation over the summer when it seemed that Milan were interested in making a bid for his services.

Napoli, though, refused to consider his sale and the club are now set to underline their faith in the attacking midfielder.

Reports suggest that the player’s entourage have already held telephone conversations with President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

There will be no rescission clause inserted into his new agreement.

The 24-year-old joined the Azzurri in June 2007 from Brescia in a €5.5m deal.
