Multiple reports in Italy claim Napoli will meet Lazar Samardzic’s agent today and have identified Nehuén Pérez as Radu Dragusin’s alternative given that the Romania international is close to joining Tottenham.

The Partenopei are looking for January reinforcements as they are currently outside European placements in Serie A, 20 points below table leaders Inter. Their first signing in the winter transfer window, Pasquale Mazzocchi, was sent off five minutes into his debut against Torino on Sunday.

Sky Sport Italia reports today could be a key date in the Samardzic deal with Udinese. The two clubs are believed to have reached a principle of agreement for around €20m, but the Partenopei have yet to shake hands with the player’s representative.

There were reports last week that talks between Napoli and Samardzic’s agent had stalled due to image right issues. Mladen Samardzic blocked his son’s transfer to Inter last summer, failing to reach an agreement with the Nerazzurri while the Udinese midfielder was undergoing his medical tests.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Napoli are interested in another Udinese player, the 23-year-old centre-back Nehuén Pérez who is valued at €12m.

The Argentinean is Napoli’s main alternative to Dragusin who is on the verge of joining Tottenham.

Milan and Fiorentina are interested in signing Perez at the end of the season, while Udinese are reluctant to sell in January, especially following Jaka Bijol’s injury. However, they could change their stance if they receive an adequate offer in the winter transfer window.
