Napoli have wished Juventus ace Fabio Quagliarella a speedy recovery after the Azzurri-owned striker was ruled out for the season.

The Italian international, who joined the Old Lady in the summer, damaged knee ligaments in Thursday's 4-1 loss against Parma and he'll be sidelined for between four and six months.

The injury rules Quagliarella out of Sunday's game against Napoli, a match that would have seen him receive a frosty reception from the San Paolo faithful given his decision to leave his hometown club.

“I spoke to his agent on Thursday and we all hoped that the situation wouldn't be so serious,” Napoli sporting director Riccardo Bigon noted.

“Speaking on behalf of the club, we wish Fabio well in his recovery and hope he returns quickly. Knowing him, I'm sure that the player will be back stronger than ever.”

The Napoli-Juventus tie is the pick of the Week 19 games and is vital for the ambitions of both clubs given that the duo lost in the last round.

“It'll be a game of significance, especially as the two sides are not smiling after the last 90 minutes,” Bigon added following Napoli's 3-1 loss at Inter.

“There are high expectations and the enthusiasm is high, as illustrated by just how many fans will be present at the game.”
