Piotr Zielinski has been a key part of Luciano Spalletti’s high flying Napoli squad this season and the club are keen to tie down the Pole to a new deal, reports detail.

The 28-year-old midfielder has featured in all 18 of the Partenopei’s matches so far this season, playing 1063 minutes of action across Serie A and the Champions League. In that time, Zielinski has scored four goals and provided six assists, playing an important role in the centre of the pitch.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Zielinski’s current contract expires with Napoli in 2024 and the club aren’t keen to lose him in the near future, so they’re preparing to kick off contract negotiations with the Pole and his entourage.

The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a move to West Ham in the summer but ultimately remained in Campania as a deal couldn’t be agreed between the clubs.

Zielinski last signed a contract renewal with Napoli in 2020, penning a four-year deal worth €3.5m net per season.
