According to TuttoMercatoWeb and La Gazzetta del Sud, Pato had already been on Napoli’s radar in January.

With the Champions League play-offs coming up, the Partenopei want a forward with star power who can either partner Gonzalo Higuain or replace him when needs be.

The Duck fuelled rumours of a return to Italy by taking his vacation in Sicily this week.

“Italy is marvellous and still remains in my heart,” he told La Gazzetta del Sud.

“A return? We’ll see what happens.”

He won’t turn 25 until September, but his career has been plagued by muscular problems.
