With Gonzalo Higuain heading to Juventus, Napoli are considering a bid for another Bianconeri target: Gabigol.

It emerged that Higuain has already undergone a secret medical with Juve in Madrid on Friday and last night the club informed Napoli of its intention to activate his €94.7m release clause.

The race is on for a replacement and Sportitalia claim one of the options has also been heavily linked with Juventus.

Gabigol, full name Gabriel Barbosa, plays wide right in an attacking role for Santos and aged 19 is already a senior Brazil international with two goals in four caps.

Santos are asking for around €25m and Juve had gone close, but were distracted by the Higuain situation.

Now Napoli can go for Gabigol as a valuable addition to their front line, especially with entry into the Champions League group phase guaranteed.

As for centre-forwards to replace Higuain, the most likely candidate remains Milan’s Colombia international Carlos Bacca, who is available for €30m.

Other options include Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon, Fiorentina’s Nikola Kalinic, Inter hitman Mauro Icardi and Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.
