Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti has also tested positive for COVID-19 and will therefore miss the big game with Juventus, after Kevin Malcuit and Mario Rui today.

The game is meant to be on Thursday January 6 at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin.

The Partenopei released a series of statements today with a drip-feed of news from the medical staff, as COVID-19 swab results seem to have come in at different times.

Andrea Petagna and Malcuit were isolating after being in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

Petagna was given the all-clear, but full-back Malcuit came back positive, as did Mario Rui just hours later.

Now coach Spalletti has also been infected with COVID-19, meaning he won’t be on the bench for the big Serie A game against Juventus.

Considering the number of players still out of action with the Coronavirus at Napoli, including Victor Osimhen, Fabian Ruiz, Eljif Elmas and Hirving Lozano, it remains to be seen if the local health authority (ASL) will step in and impose a travel ban.

That is already happening at Salernitana, who are covered by the same ASL as Napoli, who were barred from playing Udinese and now also Venezia after 11 players tested positive.
