It is increasingly likely that Napoli will bring in Keylor Navas from PSG rather than Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga. ‘He won’t accept being second choice,’ confirmed PSG coach Christophe Galtier.

The Partenopei lost David Ospina as a free agent and Luciano Spalletti has made it clear he does not trust Alex Meret to take over the gloves.

Italy veteran Salvatore Sirigu has just signed for Napoli as a free agent after leaving Genoa, but a big name is still pursued for the main role.

They had been in talks with Chelsea for Kepa on loan, but it seems as if they are closing in on Keylor Navas instead, as that would be a permanent deal aided by the Fabian Ruiz transfer to Paris.

“Navas is a great goalkeeper who must be respected,” said Galtier in today’s press conference.

“He won’t accept being second choice, and that’s a good thing. I know he has attracted interest from other clubs, so we’ll see.”

Sky Sport Italia report that 35-year-old Costa Rica international Navas is now the hot favourite for the Partenopei, having been bumped to the bench at PSG by Italy’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Napoli vice-president Edoardo De Laurentiis already commented on the situation with Teletica.com.

“Everyone knows how good Keylor Navas is, a goalkeeper who won so much in his career. We have Meret and Sirigu at this moment, but we’ll see what happens and we want to complete the squad with more signings.”

If Navas arrives, then Meret will likely be sent out on loan, and a new option for him mentioned by Sportitalia could be Leicester City.

  1. What a load of shEEt is PSG. What will they do when Dollarumma fumbles balls here and there? You need a quality backup, but good for Navas not accepting the role of second fiddle behind an overrated guy who is not better than him. Would be great for Serie A if Napoli snaps him

  2. PSGs lost… Napoli‘s win… I would take proven Navas over over-rated Donnarumma any day especially if I want to win Champions… Napoli European championship!!!
