Napoli are increasingly likely to be ordered into quarantine and banned from travelling to Turin for the game with Juventus after Alex Meret and another member of staff tested positive for COVID-19.

It is meant to kick off tomorrow at 19.45 GMT in Turin.

The Partenopei have a flight booked for 16.00 GMT today, but it is increasingly likely the local health authority (ASL) will ban them from travelling due to the COVID outbreak within the group.

According to Radio Kiss Kiss, the ASL is currently discussing the situation and will make an announcement at 13.00 GMT.

There are seven people in the matchday squad who are currently positive, as goalkeeper Alex Meret and another member of staff tested positive today.

They join Kevin Malcuit, Mario Rui, Victor Osimhen, Hirving Lozano and coach Luciano Spalletti.

Meanwhile, Eljif Elmas has now recovered, but he is still not expected to be ready for this game.

It’d be a remarkable repeat of the controversy that occurred in October 2020, when Napoli were banned from travelling to Turin after two COVID-19 cases.

Napoli were originally docked a point and given an automatic 3-0 defeat, but won their second appeal and in so doing set a legal precedent that the ASL could over-rule the existing football protocol.

The spread of COVID-19 throughout the Serie A clubs is creating tension, as the Lega Serie A is so far refusing to call off games, even when the ASL bans squads from travelling.

Salernitana’s match against Venezia tomorrow is still technically on, despite the hosts being ordered into quarantine for 10 days.

  1. Shame of a club. hey even dont try to travel. Remarkable, every time they face juventus and their squad is reduced they invent another story that blocks them from travelling.- Meanwhile they happily play against udine where they lost bhalf of the squad.Napolia joke

  2. I hope they’re sure to wait for a travel BAN, not travel ADVICE. How someone could confuse the 2 I could never understand.

  3. Mario Rui is suspended and not part of any match day squad. With Elmas testing negative its only 4 players that are positive. This exaggeration for napoli is a joke. Juve have 10 players missing between injuries and covid…

  4. You correct samy, last season did anyone call for our games to be called off or postponed despite having 10 players positive throughout the season and multiple cases at the same time. What about Genoa who played a decimated squad against Napoli. Did ADL ask them to postpone when they lost 5-0. That club is hypocrisy period.

  5. These are not Covid cases. They are positive coronavirus tests.

Sorry for sticking to the facts.

  6. Crybaby Rubentus fans!
Get your books in order and make sure your owners are not involved in any sort of cheating scandals for at least 2 years before you open your traps.
Napoli won appeal cause they did the right thing

  7. 3-0 default for Juventus. Rube cheating again. They probably sent someone who was sick down to Napoli‘s training ground to infect people. Vecchia vecchia, vecchia vecchia e, vecchiaaaaa ladronaaaaa.

  8. Vero Rossonero

U mean VErona? And how dumb are u_ trz to won a title staz relevant. Joke of a club
