Napoli and Roma are leading the race to sign Olympique Lyonnais talent Houssem Aouar, according to reports in France, with strong competition from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 24-year-old will be a free agent in June when his current contract with Lyon expires and does not seem intent on penning a new deal.
So far this season, Aouar has made 10 appearances for the club between Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France, contributing one goal and one assist.
According to Footmercato, there are four clubs in the running for Aouar’s signature as a free agent, including Serie A sides Napoli and Roma.
They face competition from Eintracht Frankfurt and Real Betis, with reports the German side are close to an agreement, but no decision has yet been made.
The French-Algerian creative midfielder has spent his entire career with Olympique Lyonnais and in recent years has been linked with a move to Arsenal, Manchester United, Roma and Milan.
He has one senior cap for France, earned in October 2020.
