Radja Nainggolan warns “talking about the Scudetto was a mistake” Roma made in the past and explains the post-match tension with Juventus staff.

Medhi Benatia scored the only goal at the Allianz Juventus Stadium this evening.

“This is Juventus, they are a strong side. We wanted to press them high, but we should’ve been more focused. Coming here and not taking the chances we create, it becomes difficult to get a point then,” Giallorossi midfielder Nainggolan told Mediaset Premium.

“Patrik Schick was a little down in the locker room. He is trying to work for the team and he felt that he could’ve scored that late chance. It’s a difficult time for him, but in future he’ll certainly help us with his goals.”

Following the final whistle, Max Allegri stormed off down the tunnel and there was a disagreement between Kostas Manolas, Nainggolan and Juventus assistant manager Marco Landucci.

“I wanted to shake (assistant manager) Landucci’s hand, as I worked with him at Cagliari and I care about those who helped me in my career. He swore at me. I understand there is tension at the final whistle, but I was just trying to shake his hand. It was not reciprocated.”

Allegri repeatedly stated over the last few days that Roma and Napoli are the main Scudetto contenders, with Inter and Lazio a step behind.

“Talking about the Scudetto was a mistake we made in the past. We must take it one game at a time,” insisted Nainggolan.

“We have a game in hand against Sampdoria. Losing to Juventus in Turin is not a tragedy, we still have the return match at the Olimpico and can make up lost ground.

“We’re doing good work and want to finish as high up the table as possible.”
