Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan will be considered for the World Cup.

Martinez has seldom used Nainggolan since becoming Belgium’s Coach in the summer of 2016, amidst speculation that he did not approve of the 29-year-old’s smoking habits.

However, he was called up for the Red Devils’ friendlies in November and, according to the former Everton manager, has a chance of representing his country in Russia.

“We have until May to analyse and make judgments on each player who helped us qualify, plus those who can help us in Russia,” he told Het Laatste.

“Nainggolan belongs to that [second] group of players. We’ll select 23 players in May, and this will be based on the needs of the team.”

Nainggolan has scored twice and made six assists in 29 appearances for Roma this season.
