Radja Nainggolan says he’s ‘happy at Roma’ ahead of his co-ownership being resolved in the summer.

The Belgian midfielder is owned by both the Giallorossi and Cagliari, with speculation that the Isolani could play hardball over selling their share in the player.

If an agreement cannot be found between the clubs, a blind auction would be held, where the Sardinian side could – theoretically – outbid Roma and sell the player to another club.

If an agreement cannot be found between the clubs, a blind auction would be held, where the Sardinian side could – theoretically – outbid Roma and sell the player to another club.

“I’m happy here at Roma,” Nainggolan told Roma Match Program.

“We’ve done very well in my two years here, and I feel perfectly integrated. I hope to continue to do well in this shirt.

“It’s well-known that there’s the question of ownership which has to be resolved, but I’m happy here.”

Rudi Garcia’s side were expected to challenge Juventus for the Scudetto this season, but have instead finished a distant second to the Turin giants.

Nainggolan doesn’t believe he and his teammates could have done much more, though he admits the pressure of being title contenders – with even the Coach predicting the Scudetto – did weigh on them.

“Juventus have won it three years [now four] in a row, and they’re used to it. Our second place is a big achievement.

“Maybe we could have stayed in the race for first a little bit longer, but I don’t think we could have done much more.

“If we hadn’t had a downturn in form in January, I’m sure we could have made it through the next round of the Champions League and advanced in the Coppa Italia.

“We started well, and until January everything was going smoothly. Then we had a physical decline in our squad, and we lost some of our verve.

“It can happen, after some positive results we had some results which weren’t necessarily defeats, but also draws, and we couldn’t react as we wished.

“To be expected to win is not easy, psychologically.

“At the time, the pressure of having to prove that we had the quality to win the League made things more difficult, but I’m sure we’ve gained experience to deal with it better next season.

“The final assessment of the season is positive, I’m very satisfied, and we’ve reached our target.”
