José Mourinho admits he doesn’t know whether he will remain at Roma next season and insists ‘Anti-Mourinhism’ is followed by those who are happy when the Giallorossi don’t win.

The Portuguese coach released an extended interview with Sky Sport Italia and the second part was aired on October 10.

Mourinho has less than a year left in his contract at the Stadio Olimpico, expiring in June 2024.

When asked whether he will be at the club in 2024-25, Mou replied: “I don’t know. Before [the Final in] Budapest, I had promised players I would stay. After the game with Spezia at the Stadio Olimpico, I told fans I’d stay, and here I am now.”

Mourinho reached two European Finals during his time at Roma. He won the Conference League in 2022 but lost the Europa League Final against Sevilla in Budapest last term.

The Giallorossi boss was also asked if ‘Mourinhism’ exists and what it means.

“There is Anti-Mourinhism too. Especially in Rome, you can find both sides,” he replied.

“Anti-Mourinhism is followed by people who are happy when Roma don’t win and when Roma have no European success. They have fun on the radio and that’s fine. I’m saying this because I meet people on the street, in any part of the world, who identify with my way of living life. To me, however, the most important game is always the next one, the past is history.”

Mourinho had already thrown his Roma future into doubt last week when he said he would coach in Saudi Arabia one day.

Il Corriere dello Sport had reported the Giallorossi would sack Mou if he had lost against Cagliari last weekend, but club sources denied the report, while Roma beat Claudio Ranieri’s side 4-1 in the last game before the October break.
